World Premiere at BBC Proms 2022

Matthew is thrilled to announce the upcoming world premiere of his new work Pearl for the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Chorus and solo baritone at this year’s proms.

The premiere will take place on 10 August with Roderick Williams in the solo role, conducted by Ryan Wigglesworth. Visit this page for more information and booking.

The piece sets excerpts from the beautiful medieval poem Pearl, in a modern translation by the Poet Laureate Simon Armitage.

Debut Album with Delphian Records

Matthew is delighted to announce that his debut album will be released by award-winning label Delphian Records in November 2022. The recording is supported by the PRS Foundation Composers’ Fund in partnership with Jerwood Arts, alongside support from the RVW Trust, Nicholas Boas Charitable Trusts and several generous individual donors., alongside support from the RVW Trust, Nicholas Boas Charitable Trusts and several generous individual donors.

The recording features outstanding musicians including Guy Johnston, Mark Simpson, Benjamin Baker and the Goldfield Ensemble in recordings of Matthew’s chamber music. Click here to read more about the project.
